Mavis J. McMahon

Mavis Jeanette (Gilbertson) McMahon, age 84, Gillett, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

 

She was born in Oconto Falls on March 19, 1934, a daughter of the late Oren and Helen (McEwen) Gilbertson.  Mavis attended area schools and was a graduate of Gillett High School.  She married Gordon E. McMahon on June 4, 1960 and together they raised five children.

 

For many years, Mavis and Gordon owned and operated McMahon’s Foods before selling the store in 1976.  Mavis was an avid reader, particularly when it came to medicine.  She was a devoted mother, caring for her son Mike as well as her other children and grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed.

 

Mavis is survived by her beloved husband, Gordy, of over 58 years, her children: Gary (Jacqui) McMahon of Suamico, Glen McMahon of Gillett, Sharon (Brian) Powell of Brillion and Michael McMahon of Gillett.  She also leaves a son-in-law, Jim Baranczyk; her sisters: Delores Christensen of Pulaski and Nancy Bahr of Cecil, and a sister-in-law, Pearl Gilbertson of Shawano.  Mavis will also be remembered by her grandchildren: Jesse (Brenda) Baranczyk, Matthew (fiancée Shamra) Baranczyk, Amanda (Bill) Delfosse, Krista (fiancée Dalton) McMahon and Abbie (fiancée John) McMahon; three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Constance “Connie” Baranczyk.

 

Friends and relatives may call from 9 to 10:45 AM on SATURDAY, September 22, 2018 at LEGACY FUNERAL CHAPELS (108 E. Main Street, Gillett, WI 54124).  A funeral service will be held at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery.

Viola Emily Fedler

Viola Emily Fedler, Gillett, 103, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 just shy of her 104th birthday.  Her family was at her side.

 

Viola was born in the Town of Maple Valley on July 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Leo and Olga (Fischer) Neuman.  She attended area schools and married Raymond G. Fedler on September 29, 1934.  Together they raised two sons and farmed for more than 30 years in the Town of Gillett.  She also worked for a time at Mirro Aluminum.

 

Viola was a longtime, faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett.  She loved gardening and canning and always took good care of those who needed help.  Viola was also involved with the Valley Line Homemakers.  She will be sadly missed.

 

Viola is survived by her sons: Len (Sue) Fedler of Gillett and Ron (Jan) Fedler of Dodgeville.  She also leaves her grandchildren: Roger (Lisa) Fedler, Rick Fedler, Chad (Suzanne) Fedler, Lindsay (John) Campbell, Bailey Fedler and Lily Fedler; her step-grandchildren Lisa (Wes) Mallo and Lori (Dave) Klingenberg; great-grandchildren Deseray , Cheyenne and Sean and her step-great-grandchildren Amber and Cal, Lauren and Andrew.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Raymond, her brothers Hugo (Elsie) and Rudy (Martha) Neuman, her sister Leone Belke, and her grandson, Rusty Fedler.

 

The family sends special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice and Serenity Gardens of Gillett for their care of Viola.

 

For those wishing, memorials are appreciated to the family, a fund will be established.

Rosa (Yoder) Bontrager, 74, Bonduel, passed away at home on Saturday, July 14, 2018.  She was surrounded by family.

 

She leaves behind her husband Ezra H. Bontrager; her children: Mabel (Freeman) Yoder, Orpha (Lee) Yoder, Harry (Edna Mae) Yoder, Lonnie (Norma) Schwartz, Christy (Anna) Hershberger, Rachel (David) Plank, Allen (Elsie) Miller, Martha (Eli) Mullet, Dennis (Mary) Miller, Viola (Sam) Miller, Willis (Mary) Yoder, Milo (Edna Ellen) Schmucker, Elvesta (Floyd) Schmucker. She also leaves 96 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

 

Friends and relatives may call at the residence of the family beginning at 12 noon Monday, July 16th 2018. Visitation will continue until 9 AM, Wednesday, July 18th 2018. A funeral service will be held at 9 AM. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Washington, Wisconsin.

Rita B. Kuehl

Rita M. (Sidor) Kuehl, age 79, Cecil, passed away on Friday, July 13th, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer.  Her husband was at her side.

 

Rita was born in Chicago, IL on October 30, 1938, a daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Domek) Sidor.  In earlier years, Rita worked as a telephone operator before becoming a wife and mother.  She was married to James “Jim” Kuehl in 1985 and they recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.  Rita worked at the Menominee Casino and also worked in the pro shop at Golden Sands Country Club for many years.

 

Rita enjoyed traveling and playing cards, fishing and the occasional trip to the casino.  She was a devoted catholic and attended mass regularly.  Rita was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  She will be sadly missed.

 

Rita is survived by her husband, Jim, her children: Kristine (Russ) Johnson of Germantown and Thomas (Lori) Casey of Menasha; her step-children: Tom (Michelle) Kuehl of Green Bay, Steve Kuehl of Stiles, Gary (Calla) Kuehl of Fond du Lac, Laura Kuehl of Suamico and Kevin (Sonja) Kuehl of Green Bay.  She also leaves a brother, Pete (Laura) Sidor; six grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son John Casey, her brother Thomas Sidor, her sister Grace Polder and her brother-in-law Armin (Jerry Ann) Kuehl.

 

For those wishing, memorials in Rita’s memory are appreciated to the Catholic Church of your choice.

Peggy Kay Thompson

Peggy Kay Thompson

Peggy Kay Thompson, age 59, finished her journey on this earth on July 8, 2018.  She was born November 13, 1958 to Lucille and Robert “Boots” Thompson.  Peggy graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1977.  She resided in Green Bay for a number of years and was employed at Proctor & Gamble.  Peggy was known for her bubbly personality.  She enjoyed feeding birds and wild animals.  Peggy loved spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews whom she adored.

 

Peggy will be sadly missed by her siblings: Duane (Mary Jo) Thompson, Carol (Peter) Nygaard, Janet (Lorne) Thurier, Lynn Thompson and Julie (Dallas) Hoerres.  She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Matt, Carl, Tiffany, Derek, Emily, Brandon along with her great-niece and great-nephews.

 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved cat, Mirage.

 

As per Peggy’s wishes; there will be no visitation or services.  The family will have a private gathering at a later date.  Due to her love of animals, those wishing may donate to their local humane society in Peggy’s name.
