landscapingPlants have the power to soften a city landscape. Something green and beautiful in the middle of the downtown gives people a natural oasis in an urban setting.

The oasis created at Legacy Funeral Chapels’ Gillett facility at 108 East Main Street took shape earlier this month to perk up the funeral home’s imprint on Main Street and enhance the environment around the funeral home. A flat, grassy area gave way to a curvy and attractive combination of grass, mulch and plantings bordered by a split-rail fence.

Thanks to the work of Corey & Company Landscaping Services of Oconto Falls, the side yard has been transformed into a garden-like setting.

The new look creates a more inviting place for people to congregate outdoors to visit with the family, friends, and neighbors pulled together by the loss of a loved one. Visitors can step outside to catch a breath of fresh air or take a calming break from a memorial service or visitation at the funeral home. A porch swing adds a peaceful spot to rest and refresh on a mild day.

Like the recent plantings at the Ebenreiter Community Square in downtown Gillett, the new landscaping at Legacy Funeral Chapels adds beauty to the city.

The landscaping project is part of an ongoing commitment to improve the facility in Gillett, inside and out. Since 2016, the interior has been completely repainted, bathrooms remodeled, and furniture replaced or re-covered. Lighting fixtures have been updated and draperies removed to create a brighter, open and more contemporary look where people feel comfortable gathering. Larger TV monitors offer a better view of videos lovingly made in remembrance of someone special.

Renovations are also ongoing at the West Side Green Bay location of Legacy Funeral Chapels at 838 South Fisk Street.

The end result is an atmosphere in which people can lovingly remember and say farewell to a loved one in a comfortable and home-like setting.
