Mary L Smith, 86, of Gillett, passed away Sunday, November 8th, 2020, at her home.
Originally from West Virginia, Mary spent most of her life in Northwest Indiana working in a hospital setting then later in a diner that she owned. In 2009 Mary moved to Gillett with her husband Howard where they have enjoyed countless evenings sitting by the pond, enjoying nature, and enjoying local diners. Mary was a very loving Wife and Mother who made every holiday memorable. Mary was active, she was a knitter, quilter, loved lighthouses, huge dirt track race fan, sold Avon for over 30 years and enjoying spending time with family and friends, whom se loved dearly.
Mary is survived by her husband Howard, her daughter Linda Nix (Wendell), daughter-in-law Jackie, three stepsons Gary (Lisa), Kevin (Stephanie) Jeffrey (Lily) and stepdaughter Crystal. Grandchildren Jerry Lee (Kris) , Susan, Katrina (Steven), step-grandchildren Marty (Stephanie), Donna, Polly Jane. Great-grandchildren Cheyene, Angel (Andrew), Jerry Lee, Matthew, Brittany, Anthony, Andrew, Annemarie, Olivia, Jackson, Raegan. Great-Great grandchildren, Michael, Maveric, Maeox, and Marquon.
She was preceded in death by her father William and Mother Ethel, Brother Bill, Sisters Georgia, Mae, Jean and Louise; son Jerry and great granddaughter Heather, along with many other family members and friends. There will be a visitation at the funeral home Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 4pm – 7pm. Kuehl is honored to serve the family at their time of need.
