Gaylord Zippel

Gaylord Zippel, 83, of Gillett passed away November 19, 2020 at home in his favorite recliner.

He was born November 5, 1937 in the Town of Oconto Falls to the late Carl and Evelyn (Nass) Zippel. Gaylord went to the South Branch School in the Town of Oconto Falls. As a young boy he and his brothers Everett, Phillip, and sister Lois enjoyed riding horses and going to the family cabin in Silver Cliff. Gay worked on the family farm and then started working for their earth moving business (Zippel Construction) at the age of 16.

Gay operated the loader and hauled all types of dirt with “his” dump trucks. Vacation for Gay was doing field work on the family farm. He did the majority of the care for his parents beef herd as well. Gay will be fondly remembered for his quietness, and his happy side – even receiving the nickname “Happy” from some. He was the last “Zippel boys” who operated the company until its closing in 2017 – 72 years in business.

Gaylord was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Everett and wife Donna, Philip and his wife La Verne, Sister Lois, other family and a large number of friends. Survived by close nieces and nephews.

Per Gaylords wishes, there will be no public service. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date. The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Leah, Cheryl, Tammy and pastor Nicole for their kindness, help, and compassion during this time.

Kuehl Funeral Home is honored to assist the family during this difficult time.
