Elizabeth “Betty” E. Tobin

July 13, 1923 – July 26, 2016

Elizabeth E. “Betty” Tobin (Bastien), age 93 of Gillett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26th, 2016. Betty was born in Stephenson, Michigan, on July 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Peter and Ada (Bunker) Bastien. Elizabeth was married to William Bernard Tobin on December 19th, 1951 and together raised three children. Betty was a retired teacher from Wabeno School District. She settled in Gillett, WI where she was an active member of the St. John’s Catholic Church as well as the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, music, theatre, travel, family holiday gatherings and the Packers. She never forgot to remind her Minnesota family of a Packers win over the Vikings! Her passion was for teaching, which she did for over 48 years. She deeply valued her family and many good friends in Wabeno and Gillett who helped her through life’s journey. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Elizabeth leaves her three children: Jeff (Linda) Tobin of Schofield, WI, Jane Kitkowski of Collierville, TN, and Peter (Cheryl) Tobin of DePere, WI. She will also be remembered by her brother Paul (Francis) Bastien of Glasgow KY and her grandchildren: Zachary (Sara) Kitkowski, Nathan (Jennifer) Kitkowski, Elissa (Chris) Hendricks, Jessica, Jacob and Hunter Tobin. She is further survived by her Great-Grandchildren: Henry, Miles, Gabriel, Evelyn, Lydia, Finley and Nolan.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Bernard, siblings; Margaret, Carl, Harold, Mary Ada, James and a dear friend Margaret Linder.

The family wants to express special thanks and gratitude to Sister Marla Clerex and the staff at Unity Hospice. Your kindness and care will never be forgotten.
