Dorothy Schnell

Dorothy Schnell of Manitowoc was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She passed away suddenly but peacefully, after a full day of loved ones visiting her at the hospital.

Dorothy lived a full life. After graduating from Reedsville High School and Bellin College of Nursing, she went on to pursue her passion for helping others with a career in nursing. She worked in various areas of nursing for 37 years. In 1959, she married her husband, Bob, and they had two beautiful daughters, Faith and Robin. Dorothy and Bob were married for 52 years before Bob passed.

Dorothy was very proud of her extensive travel with her husband and friends. She visited 46 foreign countries, including those in Europe, Africa, and South America, as well as most of the attractions in the United States.

Dorothy enjoyed dancing and listening to old-time music, especially polka. She loved playing cards with her friends and most enjoyed visiting her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents and loving husband.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Faith (Dave) Gruss and Robin (Wade) Hungerford; three grandchildren, Rachel (Jayme) Radonski, Dana Hungerford, and Troy Hungerford; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Darylene Lau; and sister-in-law, Marion Meyer.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until 11:45 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ (N9286 Dairyland Drive, Cleveland, WI 53015).

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Dr. Patrick Schultz.

Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Reedsville, WI.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Aurora Medical Center and Hospice in Two Rivers, and Randy and Dennis, for their care and compassion shown towards Dorothy.
