Dawn Ann Moffat

Wife and mother Dawn Ann Moffat passed away on September 26, 2021 at the age of 56 of natural causes. Her love of life didn’t come to an end with her death as her loved ones will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest—with color, gratitude, and making people smile.

She was born on February 9, 1965, outside of Detroit, Michigan to Mildred and Earl Cox. While still a child she moved to San Diego, California but traveled back home often to visit friends and family. She married her husband of over 25 years, Rick Moffat, in 1995. Rick and Dawn raised 3 children, Cordell, Cameron, and Cole. The family moved to Wisconsin in 2004 and Gillett in 2013.

Dawn worked as an activity director at assisted living facilities for over 20 years. Her passion was to give others laughter and explore creativity. Crafts and games fill her home, using them to bring joy to her residents every day.

In her down time, Dawn collected unicorn items (her unicorn “onesie” being a prized possession), colorful leggings, and decorations. Halloween and Christmas were her favorite holidays, and you would know that as soon as you opened their door. She was also very generous; the day before her death, she walked with her son, Cody, at the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” which was near to her heart. Always festive, always cheerful, and always spreading joy to others– that is how Dawn lived her life.

Dawn leaves behind a husband, Richard Moffat, five children: Cordell Cox (and daughter-in-law Casey Stoeckl), Cameron Moffat, Cody Moffat, Latasha Chavez (and son-in-law David Chavez), and Jason Moffat, two sisters: Janet Rentz, and Fran Pietron, and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held near Detroit, Michigan with family and close friends. Please reach out to the family for more information. The family has also set up a memorial fund for help with final costs.

Kuehl Funeral Home of Gillett is honored to assist the family.
