Barbara M. Lutzke

Barbara M. Lutzke, age 77, a rural Valders resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon March 2, 2022 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay surrounded by her family.

Barb was born on August 15, 1944 at home on the farm in rural St. Nazianz, daughter of the late Michael and Angeline (Knier) Schwoerer.  She graduated from St. Gregory High School, St. Nazianz, with the class 1962.  She then graduated from nursing school in Milwaukee.  She married her High School sweetheart Leon Lutzke on September 2, 1963 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.  Barb started her employment as a nurse in Manitowoc.  After spending time at home raising her family, she went back to work with Raether Chiropractic in New Holstein and Jon Streblow Chiropractic in Valders, retiring after 30 years.  She enjoyed traveling and always lending a helping hand to whoever needed it.  Barb and her husband, Leon delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.  She liked to have her weekly lunch dates with her many friends.  She enjoyed many things that made her happy including; monthly motor coach trips north, also going out being surrounded by many of her friends.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, having a stadium seat to attend their events.

Survivors include; her husband, Leon, rural Valders, two daughters; Lisa Lutzke, St. Nazianz, and special friend, Peter Reinertson, Laurie Lutzke, St. Nazianz and special friend, Kevin Wery, two sons and one daughter-in-law; Chris (Lynne) Lutzke, French Lick, IN, Ryan Lutzke, Sheboygan, eight grandchildren; Travis (Kristin) Elliott, Brittani (Eric) McCabe, Nathan Elliott, Nicci Waniger, Austin Waniger, CJ (Laura) Lutzke, Ethen Lutzke, Ashley Lutzke, three great grandchildren; Eli Skarda, Baylor and Brody Elliott, one sister and brother-in-law; Dottie (Tom) Bersch, Howards Grove, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Charles (Kathy) Schwoerer, Elkhart Lake, Lyle (Luann) Schwoerer, Valders, two sisters-in-law; Karen Lutzke, Manitowoc, Rose Ann Lutzke, Manitowoc.  Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

Barb was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law; Verlin Lutzke and Elwin “Curly” Lutzke, one sister-in-law; Karen Pankratz.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. William Brunner, with burial to follow at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery, St. Nazianz.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Valders Village Ambulance Service and also to the nurses at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay for their care and compassion shown towards Barb and her family.

A memorial fund has been established in Barb’s name.

    I am so sad that I will never see Barb’s beautiful smile again. She lit up the room! She always made me feel like she genuinely cared about me. I have so many fun memories with Barb, and will treasure every one. My heart aches for all who loved her, she was a dynamo who loved so many people, and she will be forever missed.

Memories of the accordion in the room off the kitchen has been an enduring memory. I remember being amazed when Barb would finger around the keys. She had a lasting smile that always shined.     I can’t tell you how sorry I am for all of your lost. Barb, was the sweetest and most caring lady I ever met. She treated me like family she would always stop and talk to me and we even hugged.
