September 05, 1955 – April 16, 2017

Wayne R. “Babe” Funk, age 61, Gillett, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Wayne was born in Oconto on September 5, 1955, a son of the late Wayne Sr. and Rosemary (Courchaine) Funk. He was a true “Gillett” outdoorsman and loved riding motorcycles, hunting and was a well-known grill master to his family and friends. Wayne was a great entertainer and loved telling jokes. He had a playful nature when it came to his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.

Wayne leaves his significant other, Cherie Capaul of Gillett, a son Adam Funk and a daughter Amber (Mark) Brown, all of Green Bay. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Simone, Wyatt, Cassius and Evan; his siblings Janice Boggess, Cathy (Roger) Lockstein, Christy (David) Krueger, Cindy Benzar and Curtis Funk. He will also be forever remembered by his best friend and cousin, Rick (Donna) Dunk and his four-legged friends, Bowser and Shae. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.

For those wishing, memorials are appreciated to the family.

Emma A. Mueller

Emma A. Mueller

May 26, 1923 – April 15, 2017

Emma Anna Mueller, age 93, of Gillett, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, April 15, 2017.

Emma was born to Carl and Hulda Mueller in the town of Gillett, along with her twin sister Esther Anna Mueller on May 26, 1923. They were raised on a farm which the family operated until 1938 when Emma and Esther began working at a grocery store. They went on to run Mueller’s Supermarket which they owned and managed for 34 years. Emma continued to work in a store until her retirement.

Emma and Esther (never one without the other!) were always seen wearing identical clothes and always ate the same food. They enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Shawano Lake with relatives and friends and always had a good time no matter what they did. They took many bus trips over the years, visited the Bahamas and Hawaii twice, and also went to Venezuela. They loved playing BINGO, eating out with friends and playing cards.

Emma and Esther were longtime members of the American Legion Ladies Auxilliary and were well known for selling poppies. They were devout Christians and were active members of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church, now Faith United Lutheran Church. They were also well known for volunteering for any and all causes. Emma will be sadly missed.

Emma is survived by her twin sister, Esther, of Gillett; an aunt, Vivian Mueller of OshKosh, her nieces and nephews: Darlene (John) Olson of Gillett; Gene (Judi) Schuettpelz, of Watertown; Duane (LuAnn) Schuettpelz of Madison; Gary (Roz) Schuettpelz of Rhinelander; Kevin (Jackie) Schuettpelz of Pulaski and Marilyn Mueller of Gillett. She also leaves 15 great nieces and nephews, many relatives and friends.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hulda Mueller; her brother Raymond Mueller and his wife Kay, her sister Viola Schuettpelz and her husband Len and her sister, Sylvia, who passed away as a child.
