Alice M. (Jewell) Hansen, 95, of Gillett died on Monday March 9, 2015. She was born on March 26, 1919 to Robert and Bernice (Scutt) Jewell in Gillett. On December 24, 1937 she married the late Elmer Hansen. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1947.

She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and Northern Gardeners Club, in Gillett. Alice worked as a leather cutter at former Northern Shoe Company, in Pulaski, for many years. After her retiring she worked at the former Friday Canning Company. She was a volunteer for the Ladies Aide and Luebke- Robinson Post 8314 Gillett VFW Auxiliary. Alice enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and traveling.

Survivors include her children Gary (Judy) Hansen of Powers, MI; Beverly (James) Holl of Green Bay; Allen (Joan) Hansen of Slinger; grandchildren Douglas, Dennis, David, Denise, Daniel, Adam, and Dr. Danielle; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Further survived by her siblings George Jewell of CA; Lois (Leon) Riemer of Gillett; Cora Rotter-Boerst of Gillett; Robert Jr (Lynn) Jewell of Brookfield; Bernie (Robert) Paulson of Oconto Falls; sisters-in-law Lorraine Jewell of Germantown; Anita Hansen of Sobieski many nieces nephews and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, Sister Mary Jean McNulty-Berger; brothers Wilmer (Leona) Jewell, Rodney Jewell, Harvey Jewell.

Friends may call at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Oconto Falls, on Saturday March 14, 2015 from 9 A.M. to 11A.M. Funeral Service will be held at 11 A.M. with Pastor Bill Gruenstern officiating. Burial will take place in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery following the Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, Oconto Falls.

Elizabeth M. (Ratz) Sommerfeld, 87, Gillett, died March 4, 2015. She was born to the late Henry and Minnie (Peisler) Ratz on November 24, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI. Elizabeth married Herbert Sommerfeld 69 years ago on November 17, 1945 in Gillett. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Riverside where she was involved in many church activities; Ladies aide, music teacher and Sunday school teacher, she also played the organ for many years. Elizabeth worked as a Surgical Nurse in Oconto Falls for many years, after retiring from nursing she worked at the Ben Franklin Dime store and also at Club 32 in Gillett. She was very active and enjoyed golfing, playing cards, entertaining with her accordion and bowling where she was recognized as the oldest bowler in WI. Elizabeth had a knack for working with her hands knitting, crocheting, quilting, making crafts and even sewing her children’s clothes in their younger years. She cherished hosting everyone for holidays and birthdays, Elizabeth was fond of a house full of family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Herbert Sommerfeld; sons, Steve Sommerfeld, Gary Sommerfeld of Gillett; daughters, Linda (Richard) Scapple of Harris, MN, Deborah (Larry) Clay of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Jamis, Matthew, Michael, Samantha, John, and Allison; four great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Abagayle, Joseph and Macey; brother, Robert Ratz of Mesa, AZ, and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Henry and Minnie she was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Ratz and sister, Elsie Krueger.

Friends may call from 9 A.M. to 11A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Riverside, in Gillett, on Saturday March 7, 2015. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church with Rev. James Athey officiating. Burial will take place following the Funeral Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church Riverside Cemetery in Gillett.
