Arletta Rose Thibadeau

Arletta R. Thibadeau, 87, Gillett, entered into rest Friday, August 30, 2013 at New Care Nursing Home in Crivitz. She was born on August 27, 1926, in Oconto Falls to the late Elmer Landin and Leona Henne. As a young woman Arletta worked for her father at Landin Motor Co. and later on in life began working for the Gillett School District for many years. Arletta also belonged to the VFW, and other organizations such as the St. John’s Christian Women’s Society. She had many hobbies and passions like bowling, traveling, feeding the birds, and tending to her beautiful home, yard and flowers. She also enjoyed her card games, one of her favorites being a game called “Smear” for a quarter a game and a dime a bump! Most importantly Arletta thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, dogs, and grand-dogs at the cottage in Townsend. She is survived by two sons, Dan (Sue) Thibadeau, MN (their children Julie and Jeanee), and Jon Thibadeau, Gillett (his son Gavin); two daughters, Paula (Dave) Lintner, Marinette (their daughter Jamie), and Joan (Pat) Suzawith, Amberg. She is further survived by two sisters, Ramona (Tom) Tessier, and Gloria (Dick) Garvey; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding Arletta in death is her husband, Eugene Thibadeau; her parents Elmer and Leona; a grandson Greg (son of Jon Thibadeau); many brother and sister-in-laws, and other relatives and friends. Arletta will have a funeral mass at St. John’s Catholic Church in Gillett on Wednesday September 4, 2013. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the service beginning at 1 p.m. with Father Dean Dombroski officiating. Interment will follow the service at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Gillett with a light social luncheon concluding the graveside service. Lyle L Brazeau

October 10, 1932 – August 20, 2013

Lyle “Buck” Brazeau, 80, Gillett passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 20, 2013 at his residence. Lyle was born October 10, 1932 to the late Samuel and Mary (Miller) Brazeau. On December 13, 1952, Buck married his first wife Elizabeth (Davis) Brazeau. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2009. On October 23, 2010 Buck re-married Alberta (Ryan) Brazeau. He was a former member of the Gillett American Legion Post 300 and the Suring Historical Society in Suring. Lyle served in the the U.S Army in Korea during the Korean conflict. Throughout the course of Buck’s life he enjoyed many hobbies and passions, one of which was collecting antique tractors, but nothing was more important than family. Lyle is survived by his wife Alberta Brazeau, Gillett; one daughter and son-in-law Connie and Glen Zilkoske, Gillett; One son and daughter-in-law Roger and Tina, Green Bay; four grandchildren Susan (Robert) Seide, Clintonville; Joseph Zilkoske, Gillett; Sara (Michael) Thorsen, David Brazeau, both of Minn.; three great-grandchildren Joshua, Ashleigh, and Courtney Zilkoske, all of Gillett; two sisters Bernice Christiansen, Cecil; Ronnie Carlson, Gillett; four step-children Debbie (Carroll) Fabry, Suring; Tammy (Mark) Riorden, Madison; Sandy (Tom) School, Green Bay; and Patrick (Dawn) Cramer, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his former wife Elizabeth (Davis) Brazeau and two sisters Agnes and Jean. Friends may call from 11 A.M until 1 P.M on Saturday August 24, 2013 at Kuehl Funeral Home 108 E. Main St. Gillett. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.

Elmore “Butch” Baumgarten Jr. passed away Thursday August 15, 2013. Butch was born on December 27, 1947 in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Later in life he moved to Shawano where he met Dorothy and decided to join hands in marriage on July 6, 1965. The two of them made the decision to start a family and along came Brenda, Elmore and James. One of Butch’s many passions throughout the course of his life was hunting with his boys and other family and friends. Butch was also a very active member of the Wolf River Harley Chapter. Everyone that knew him knew him as a very loving and caring guy and he will sadly be missed by all. Elmore is survived by his wife, Dorothy Baumgarten; his father Elmore Baumgarten Sr.; his mother Deloris Baumgarten; one daughter Brenda (Randy) Hearley; two sons, Elmore (Betty) Baumgarten III, and James Baumgarten; a sister Kathy (Dennis) Westerfeld. He is further survived by eleven grandchildren including their spouses, Rodney, Danielle, Bobby (special friend Kassy), Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Darren, Dylan, Eben, Jazlyn, and Camden; four great-grandchildren, Ethen, McKenna, Maddy, and Urijah (unborn). Other survivors include many other brother and sister-in-laws, family, and close friends. Elmore is preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Singer. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Heykes officiating.

Alvin F. Schaal, age 93, formerly of 9795 Gray Lake Rd., Gillett, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Sharpe Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oconto Falls.
Al was born October 24, 1919 in Gillett to Dudley and Flora (Zahn) Schaal. Growing up during the depression years and his work in the Civilian Conservation Corps to help support his family shaped his attitudes about the importance of hard work and self-reliance. Al became a lifelong “fixer” and saver, and always built things to last. Al proudly served in the 36th Division, 142nd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army for four years during World War II throughout Northern Africa, Italy, France, Austria, and Germany. Memories of the battles, death, and destruction stayed with him throughout his life.
On March 3, 1946, he married Lorraine M. Olson. They lived in Gillett until moving to a farm outside Oconto Falls in 1952. About 1980 they settled in rural Gillett. Al was a truck driver and spent most of his career with Scott Paper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping in his free time. Retirement turned Al and Lorraine into snowbirds, and they spent many happy years wintering in Mesa, Arizona and taking side trips with a senior club. Lorraine preceded him in death on April 11, 2011.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Sandi) Schaal of Oconto Falls; his daughter, Barbara Schaal of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Brian (Lynn) Schaal of Bonduel and Nikki (Nick) Tolzman of Oconto Falls; and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Aaron Schaal of Bonduel and Josie Tolzman of Oconto Falls.
He is further survived by two sisters, Betty (Menasha) and Dorothy (Texas), two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clarence, Cyril, Francis, and Gordon; sister Grace; and multiple brothers- and sisters-in law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10 at St. John’s Riverside Lutheran Church, Hwy. 32, Gillett with Pastor Ricky Buhrke officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be accorded with burial in St. John’s cemetery. Kuehl Funeral Home (920)855-2144 of Gillett is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Riverside Lutheran Church.
