OBITUARY FOR:
BERNICE M. KIRSCH,
91, Gillett, passed away Saturday morning, February 25, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls.
Bernice was born October 27, 1920 at home to the late Louis and Clara (Wollert) Blank.
On April 11, 1942, Bernice married Paul Kirsch at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. Together, they farmed in the Town of Gillett for many years. Paul preceded her in death May 9, 1994.
Bernice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gillett. She enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, and quilting. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.
Bernice is survived by her four children and their spouses Judith (Eugene) George, Cottage Grove; Lloyd (Gail), Diana (Charles) Rueckert, all of Gillett; Donna (Jeffrey) Prange, Cecil; seven grandchildren Lisa (Eric “Rick”) Brown, Sun Prairie; Christopher (Jaime) George, Madison; Holly (Jason) Hintz, Green Bay; Brooke (Matt) Schaal, Gillett; Tricia Milis, (special Friend Jay) Krakow; Jill (Travis) Stangel, Shawano; Chad Kirsch, Gillett; ten great grandchildren; two sisters Violet Tudor, Gillett; Shirley Castelein, Holt, MI; one sister-in-law Ella Rasmussen, Watertown; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernice was also preceded in death by one son Leonard, four brothers and one sister.
Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, (TODAY) at the Kuehl Funeral Home 108 E. Main St. Gillett 920-855-2144 and then on Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St. Gillett from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the church, with the Rev. Harvey H. Jeffers officiating. Interment in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett.

73, Gillett, passed away Friday morning February 24, 2012 following a long illness.
LaVerne was born March 14, 1938 at Oconto to the late Raymond and Dora (Degeneffe) Tiegs.
LaVerne married Philip Zippel in Oconto. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Gillett.
She was employed at Meunier’s Coast to Coast, Gillett.
LaVerne loved flowers and gardening.
LaVerne is survived by her husband Philip, Gillett; her son Todd (Nancy), Gillett; five brothers and two sisters-in-law Norbert Tiegs, Lena; Ralph Tiegs, Donald (Heather) Tiegs, all of Oconto; Wesley Tiegs, Milwaukee; Gerald (Donna) Tiegs, Racine; one sister Violet Reed, Oconto; two sisters-in-law Shirley Tiegs, Tennessee; Gwen Zippel, Gillett; one brother-in-law Gaylord Zippel, Gillett; many nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Ivan Tiegs; two sisters-in-law Lorraine Tiegs; Yvonne Tiegs; she was also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Evelyn Zippel; one sister-in-law Lois Zippel; and one brother-in-law Everett Zippel.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Inurnment in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett.

ROBERT (BOB) L. DELZER, 83, Cecil, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Green Bay. He was born July 28, 1928 in Oconto Falls to the late William & Elsie Delzer. He married the late Virgene (Rhode,nee Siebert) on August 24, 1957. Together they operated a dairy farm in the Seymour area for numerous years. During his years of farming, Bob held offices in Drephal Shipping Assoc., Outagamie County Producers, and Midwest Breeders Association. After moving to the Pulaski area in 1973, Bob worked as a body shop dispatcher for Van Boxtel Ford, Green Bay, retiring in 1994, but worked part-time until 2005. He also was on the Northwest Wisconsin Technical Institute (N.W.T.I.) Parts Specialist Advisory Committee for several years. In 1992, they moved to a home on Pensaukee Lake, where he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Bob made a fabulous fish fry, grew beautiful flowers, tasty strawberries, and enjoyed sharing them with others.
He is survived by four children: Mike Rhode (Sue), Oshkosh; Cathy Rhode (Dale Eberlein), Shawano; Laurie Mesenbring (Steve), Geneva, Illinois; and Greg Delzer (Alice), Hortonville; Bob had 6 grandchildren: Laurie’s children: Jessica Jewell (Shaun Woodard), Midway, Utah; Jackie Ellis (Joe), Chester, VA; Luke Mesenbring, Urbana, IL; Josh Mesenbring (fiancée, Ashley), Quincy, IL; & Mike Mesenbring, Madison; and Greg’s daughter, Elena, at home. He is also survived by sisters: Helen Black, Middleton; Marilyn Mayer (LaVern), Oconto Falls; Mae Aprill (Byron), Pulaski; and sister-in-law, Romelle Delzer, Oconto Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Elsie Delzer; his beloved wife, Virgene; a very dear son, Robert, Jr., brother, Kenneth; and brother, Otis. Bob was a gentle, humble, & caring man, always helping others anyway he could. He enjoyed the company of his many friends and was deeply loved by his family.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, at the Kuehl Funeral Home 108 E. Main St. Gillett 920-855-2144 and then on Saturday February 25, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until memorial services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial at Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett.

78, Gillett, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.
Barb was born on October 11, 1933 in Strawn, IL, the daughter of the late Louis and Margaretha (Gerlach) Meyer.
Barb was a 1951 graduate of Forrest Strawn Wing High School, in Strawn, IL, and then attended and graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria, IL. She worked for Dr. Whitaker upon graduation in Peoria.
Upon her marriage to Clayton Smith on August 30, 1958, in Sibley, IL; she made her home in Gillett and joined the staff of Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls, as a surgical nurse. She then joined the staff at Gillett Nursing Home and eventually became Director of Nurses until her retirement in 1997. Barb was often willingly on call 24/7 at the nursing home when needed, and upon her retirement she also continued to do volunteer work at the nursing home. She worked there two weekends a month on an “as needed” basis.
Barb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gillett. She loved cooking and was always ready to help prepare St. John’s Corned Beef and Cabbage Meal on St. Patrick’s Day.
Barb was a substitute school bus driver for her father-in-law Gwynne Smith, and later for her husband Clayton. She also worked with the former Gillett Joint Ambulance Service as EMT, when needed.
Barb was an avid bowler on various local teams for over 40 years, attending many bowling tournaments.
For several years, Barb was also a member of the Berry Lake Assoc. and met with The Ladies of the Lake every other week for brunch. She was proud when she and her husband were selected as Gillett’s 4th of July Parade Grand Marshalls in 2009. Barb also was a member of the Gillett American Legion Auxiliary Post 300, in addition to the Gillett VFW Auxiliary Post 8314.
Barb was involved in the community serving as Gillett City Alderman from April of 1974 until April of 2011 and Oconto County Supervisor from January, 2001 up until the time of her death.
Barb is survived by her husband Clayton; two sons Kevin and Darrell; two grandsons Andrew and Alex; sister-law Nancy Smith; brother-in-law Art Gandt. Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Tom (Nancy) Upstone, Steve Ziegler, Sue (Upstone) Hancock, Randy MacSwain, Wendy MacSwain, Robin MacSwain, Tammie Schwantes; great nieces, nephews along with many, many friends; and Frenchy, her cat.
Barb was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law Winifred (Bob) Ziegler; Margo (Karl) Upstone; two sisters-in-law Jean Gandt and Gail MacSwain.
A visitation will be held on Saturday February 18, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 West Main St., Gillett from 9:00 a.m. until memorial services at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Harvey H. Jeffers officiating. Interment at Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
