Arthur “Art” Otto Winkler

93, Underhill, passed away Saturday afternoon November 26, 2011 at Shawano Medical Center.
Art was born June 27, 1918 in the Town of Gillett to the late Otto and Clara (Schoenbeck) Winkler.
On December 4, 1943, Art married Florence Rusch at the former Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Gillett.
Art was employed by the former Ansorge Distributing and then later by the former Friday Canning Company, now known as SENECA Foods, both in Gillett.
Art was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gillett, where he served on the church council and finance committee. Art loved gardening, fishing, feeding the birds and playing cards, especially Sheepshead. He was a member of a card club. He also enjoyed the bus tours that he and Florence took to various places.
Art is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years Florence, Underhill; one daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Gilman Smoot, Minneapolis; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dale Winkler, Mountain; Miles and Donna Winkler, Gillett; four grandchildren Nicholas (Kerry) Winkler, Green Bay; Justin (Phyllis) Smoot, Kendallville, IN; Jenalee (Derek) D’Amico, New Berlin; Elizabeth Smoot, Waukesha; two great granddaughters Payten Winkler, Green Bay, Lillian Smoot, Kendallville, IN; one brother Louis Winkler, Hintz; one sister-in-law Mildred Winkler, Gillett; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many lifelong friends. Art was preceded in death by one sister Eleanor Winkler; one brother Edwin Sr; and one sister-in-law JoAnn Winkler.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday November 29, 2011 at the Kuehl Funeral Home 108 E. Main St. Gillett (920) 855-2144, and then from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, corner of W. Main St. and McKenzie Ave. Gillett.
Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 30, 2011, at the church, with the Rev. Harvey H. Jeffers officiating. Interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Gillett.
